Yacht Repairs

Yacht repairs are a speciality. Here we list the types of yacht repairs we carry out, grouped under repairs to the yacht hull, yacht deck repairs and other miscellaneous yacht repairs.

Sometimes on timber boats, a simple repair can turn into a whole new problem if it is not dealt with straight away. An experienced shipwright can access the problem and give you a free quote, to carry out the repairs using traditional methods.

Hull damage, re-planking, re-caulking and re-fixing are just a few of the yacht repairs that can be undertaken. Sometimes certain things can be beyond repair, such as leaking decks. In this case a new traditionally cut straight or swept teak deck can be fitted, giving your yacht a stunning new look.

Below we list many of the yacht repairs we carry out.

Yacht decks - Teak decking

Teak is the perfect timber for use in the marine industry. It is hard wearing and its natural oils repel water, which also means that it does not have to be treated.
A classic example of this is the teak used in the turkish baths on the Titanic, which is in the same condition today as it was before she went down in 1912.

Our traditionaly cut swept teak decks show this beutifully grained timber in all its glory, weather oiled or left to go silver.
All of our decks are cut into the king-plank and margin boards and are finished with black caulking. This not only seals it, but also produces a good non sllip surface.
Combine this with re-varnished bright work and re-chromed or polished fittings, and your decks will be the envy of other boat owners for years to come. For some examples of decks we have laid, please see the completed restoration projects pages.
